I was just recounting this to a coworker and it dawned on me that I hadn’t shared, so here goes…
I was standing in the lobby at work talking to our receptionist and a user walks up to join our conversation. We had been talking about people who have had their email accounts “hacked” because they had their password set to their username (thereby making it very easy to guess). The user chimes in with “Hey! Mine is set the same way! It’s easier to remember if it’s my username.”
The receptionist and I both look at him with an “Are you kidding me?” look on our faces.
Realizing what he said, he continues “I guess I shouldn’t have said that, huh?”
Me, trying to keep a straight face: “I think it would be best if you changed your password to something a little more secure.”
Him: “You’re going to force me to if I don’t, aren’t you?”
