Ok, after much hair pulling and gnashing of teeth last night, I heard from my host that my sites are using too many resources. They moved my site to a “fix-it” type server so that I am allowed to find and fix the problem, and it won’t affect the other users on the server where my site is located (and it won’t have any downtime in the meanwhile).
I had been playing around with pingers and trackback scripts, but I’ve decided to cut all of those out. I also had an installation of BAStats that seemed to have gone ‘wonky’, so it’s gone as well. I’ve spent my spare time this morning looking over this site, the coven, and my guild site looking to trim the fat where necessary and/or possible.
I think the bulk of the overload was from the pinger/trackback and stats crap, but I had been thinking lately that my WP installs are becoming too ‘hoggish’ and it’s time to put them on a diet. :)
I can’t begin to express my appreciation for how helpful the LP staff have been. Every time I’ve had a problem, they’ve been quick with a suggestion or a solution. Honestly, I kick myself for not moving to them sooner.
Heh, I felt bad leaving Pair, because they came so highly recommended from a dear friend. Oh well … lesson learned. :)
A big hug and smooches to the LP staffers, forum mods, and friends. They’ve earned a loyal minion in me.
