“OMG, You’re gray!?!” I think that phrase will stay with me. I had seen an old friend from high school last summer and that was her reaction to seeing my ‘roots’: “Oh my God, Nicki, your hair … you’re GRAY!”
Thank you, I hadn’t noticed.
Actually, I used to color my hair so often that I didn’t notice it until this last couple or three years. I’d let it grow out a bit and actually thought of letting it just grow out, but let’s be real … I’m too young to be this gray. (Or, at least that’s what I’m told!) And besides, I like changing my hair color to suit my mood(s) … someone once asked me if when I got old I planned on being on of those “little blue-haired ladies” … I said “Blue? Been there, done that already. I want to be purple!”
Last week I had auburn hair with slightly gray roots. Today it’s a slightly Dr. Pepper-ish color with bright red highlights. hehe, it’s always dark for a few days, it’ll return to a more “normal” color in a week or so, but for now I’m enjoying the darker hues.
I had well over 6 inches cut off — it needed it, and I’ve been having headaches and having less hair helps. Jim told me last night that I looked like Bette Midler (wish I had her money).
So now I’m a gothic Bette … I can live with that.
