The Obliviaxe to Play Milwaukee Metal Fest

You may ask yourself, “how long has it been since a local band went anywhere with their music?” Sure, Vallejo and Brother Cane have finally broken into the national alternative music scene and Little Red Rocket and Wish are poised for their first break-through single. But what about the hundreds of other local bands? You know, the guys who play every weekend at your favorite local hang outs. When if ever, will they get their 15 minutes?

We’re headed to Milwaukee

Well, one local band will get a chance at the spotlight July 25th in Milwaukee. Obliviaxe, a favorite at local clubs like The Nick and The High Note Lounge/Rockin’ Horse, have just been signed as a feature act on this year’s Milwaukee Metalfest. The Milwaukee Metalfest is North America’s premiere heavy metal festival. The festival, which is now in its twelfth year, has featured such heavy metal greats as Anthrax, Stuck Mojo and Gwar. This year its three stages will be graced by up and coming heavy metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, Mercyful Fate and Death, as well as over 100 other metal bands from throughout the United States. Obliviaxe will play on the main stage at 3:20pm on Saturday July 25th.

And a world Wide release too

Just in the past year, Obliviaxe has released their third album Stone with Care and has had their single Show Me released worldwide. The release of this single was on a compilation CD {Foundations Forum Musicfest 97 Unsigned Bands) for the top unsigned bands in the world.

If you’d like to check out Obliviaxe before their July 25 excursion to Milwaukee (so you can say “I knew them when…”), you can check them out June 25* at the High Note Lounge/ Rockin’ Horse (formerly located in the Howard Johnson on Oxmoor Rd.) at its new location, 414 21st St. S. or you can sample them on the Internet by visiting the Obliviaxe homepage at [http://members.aol.com/ OBLIVIAXE].
