Oi what a weekend. I fretted and fretted about the meeting with the dietician … but it never happened. Last week I went all the way downtown, only to find out that my appointment was moved to the day before and no one had notified me. I was PISSED. I mean, I had taken the day off and had been stressing over it! So I console myself with a Hardee’s biscuit and gravy on the way home. Don’t judge … and I only ate half of it. LOL
I had also scheduled a couple other things to take place that afternoon since I had the day off. I ran errands and was in a generally bad mood. I ate a good lunch — no frills salad with a vinaigrette. I had an appointment with a personal trainer that afternoon. I was still on the fence about that until I sat down to talk with her. Lisa was super nice and asked me about my history, goals, what I was looking for, etc. I filled out a ton of paperwork, including a form that goes to the doctor’s office to get clearance to start training. Fun stuff. She was awesome and made me feel really at ease, telling me about the dude I’ll be training with. He was super nice too. It came time to weight me. Considering the day I’d had, I was in a “fuck it, let’s go” kind of mood.
I hadn’t been weighed since my last doctor’s appointment in February, just after my diagnosis … I’ve lost 14 pounds!
I cried. I was shocked, stunned even! Poor Lisa thought I was upset and was trying to console me. I looked at her and explained, “You don’t understand, I’ve lost over 10 pounds!”
It was a happy loss!
Without knowing it, I’ve made it nearly a third of the way to my goal weight. We looked at my goals, and she thinks I may be aiming for too low, but I basically said that if I feel healthy then I’ll be happy. I’m not there yet, but it was nice to see proof of my efforts so far!
I felt so good updating my MFP and health app profiles with my new weight. Working out every week in addition to the continued diet and walking will only help more of the weight drop off. And now I have someone encouraging me. I’ve missed that.
So … YAY! 🙂
