Rest in peace, dear friend, Fravia+

May 4, 2009 by

I came home tonight to find a message from Father Luke bearing sad news — Fjalar Ravia, the man better known as Fravia+, has passed away. I had posted a while back with news of his illness, and he had posted a Spring Update letting everyone know of some promising news, but it seems that his tumor had metastasized.

I’m currently sitting here reading his Sour ‘n Sweet Swan Song — his final message — and am a blubbering soppy mess. Though we had lost touch over the years, I have always considered him a mentor, and most of all, a friend. Fravia+, I will miss you very much.

Please pray for his loved ones left behind in these sad times.

Wow. I never met the guy but he was instrumental in my understanding of many nuances in code. I’ll light a candle for him and his relatives at mass in the morning.

Thank you my friends.. as days go by I get less and less accustomed to the fact that he left us. The sorrow will always exist, deep down somewhere

He gave to us joy, and freedom.

    Happiness, I believe, cannot be
    manufactured, but only shared.
    It’s our natural state.

That is to say I cannot make you happy, because
you already are even when you don’t know it.
So, I may celebrate with you when
    you are happy.

Our friend shared great joy, and wisdom with us.

    I celebrate knowing him.

And I mourn his passing, because it makes me happy
missing him, and remembering how joyously he shared
    with me.

      Thank you Father Luke

The sorrow has to ebb away
And leave room to the happiness
      Of having shared with him
And of knowing that others have, as well

      Amen for his soul

So sad… I had hoped to meet him in person. Now it’s not posible anymore.

“What you wish to do… get it done now”
Now I’m but another orphan seeker

    Thanks
