Back then the things were made of heavy glass and looked like a trumpet with a big red rubber bulb on the small end. Luckily one of my friends clued me in and the teacher never saw the Medieval contraption and my head was spared the trauma of receiving extra knots. Today, a small boy caught with something like that at school would by arrested for a sex crime and forced to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
