And speaking of reception locations

June 13, 2007 by Nicki

This one wasn’t large enough to suit our needs. It would be fine for outdoor, but the reception would have to be indoor, and their indoor facilities had a max capacity of 45. :(

(Name withheld as a courtesy)

I couldn’t find a picture of it, but I’m told that they also had an outdoor fireplace. (FIRE! FIRE! lol)

They had a very nice website and the lady on the phone was very friendly when I called and answered all of my questions. I hated marking them off my list, but I guess it’s just as well because I later saw the small print on the back of their brochure:

“All rental facilities (except gazebos) require a $100.00 keys/security deposit in the form of a personal check. All rentals must be made to local residents only. Business, political, and religious functions, indoor smoking, and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.”

Um, ok the security deposit I could understand. The “local residents only” thing kind of bothered me, but I have a friend who lives in that area and he had volunteered to rent it for me. What got me was that last bit … no religious functions? I asked the lady on the phone if wedding receptions were allowed, she said, “As long as it’s not religious.”

WTF?

Maybe I’m mistaken, but aren’t nearly all weddings and related events tied to one religion or another? And what does it matter? It’s just a freakin’ reception!

*shakes head*

Mara: LOL, I thought of you when I wrote that! ;)

re: no alcohol – it has amazed me how many sites don’t allow alcohol, and the ones that do have unGodly high security deposits and/or make you use THEIR bartenders and wait staff.

    Wes: That’s what Jim said.
