I got a call earlier tonight from Jim’s ex. She was supposed to keep Jessie tomorrow and drop her off Sunday. Apparently she’s been called in to work and needs us to keep her tomorrow and she’d pick her up Sunday.
Ok, no biggie I can deal with that … though I did already have plans for tomorrow. On the other hand, if I/we didn’t agree to keep her Jessie would stay with her mother’s only living relatives … and they’re, well, creepy. I’m not talking Addams Family creepy, I mean “something’s just wrong there” creepy. Oh well, with Jim at the LAN party Jessie can help me clean and we can veg out watching old movies and TV shows like we did tonight. Tonight I introduced her to The Lone Ranger, Abbott and Costello, and Betty Boop. :)
Anyways, back to the ex … I brought up the subject of Thanksgiving. Seeing as it’s only a coupla or so weeks away, I wanted to know what she had scheduled for it so we could all work out “the Jessie arrangement.”
She basically told me that she has every holiday off for the rest of the year and fully intended on keeping her during those holidays. She went on to say that she felt “weird” including Jessie with my family’s events because she’s “not a blood relative.” I told her that I have included Jessie in everything from the beginning … besides, she feels left out enough as it is whenever she misses a family event for mine or Jim’s family!
Anyways, Jim’s ex made it clear that if she had anything to say in the matter that Jessie won’t see my family because it’s “not fair” to her because all of her family was “taken from her” (all passed on) and she was “tired of being alone.”
So get a fucking dog.
While I sympathize with her because she’s lonely, she’s taking something away from Jessie that she loves. Jessie loves my family and they love her and treat her as if she were my own flesh and blood. And of course Jim’s mom spoils her too, so why the complaint? Why the unnecessary jealousy?
Why do that to your own child?
This woman fucking baffles me. And it breaks my heart because I know Jessie will be disappointed, and I know my family will be disappointed.
And this is only going to get worse …
If Jessie’s mother is not careful, she will alienate Jessie … then wonder later in life why she’ll have nothing to do with her.
