You know you’re a geek if … you paint your nails to match your computer case

April 30, 2004 by Nicki

What a busy week! We had a blast at the LAN party at Moporoco’s last weekend. We played nothing but Unreal Tournament 2004. The turnout was a little smaller than expected, but we still had a decent crowd.

I got my new case, but was a little dismayed to find that the fans they shipped with it are tri-lite led’s … and none of the lights match my case! My case is a bright green, the lights have red, blue, and yellow lights. (ARGH!!!) So needless to say, I’m replacing all the fans. I currently have my old green UV fan in there now and will be adding another this weekend. (These are great for showing off my new green UV IDE and floppy cables. *grin*) I might just replace the other 4 fans with either plain black ones or just green fans.

I’m also trying to decide if I want to put my green cold cathode lamp in it. This sucker is already putting out a LOT of light, LOL.

Anyways, pictures to come soon. :)

Birthday, sickness, and hope … what a combination!

April 18, 2004 by Nicki

I had originally meant to make a post this past Friday, after my birthday, but have been really ill the last 3 days. I had gone out to dinner Thursday with Jim, Jessie, my parents, and my brother Jeremy to celebrate and apparently had gotten food poisoning from something I ate.

It hit me early Friday morning, I had to have Jim drive me home from work. I crawled into bed and wished for a coma, LOL. I won’t go into details as to how sick I was, but let’s just say that even my worst hangover or flu episode wasn’t this gross. {ew!}

Anyways, I got money from pretty much everyone for my birthday. Jeremy gave me a gift certificate to Marshall’s department store (YAY!). Jim’s buying my new case, so my box will be all decked out (after I buy the rest of my UV IDE cables) for the LAN party next weekend.

I was really surprised that my brother came down from T’town for my birthday, it was really sweet. :)

Needless to say, I didn’t do a whole lot this weekend, as I’ve felt like ass … but I did feel strong enough to go to my grandmother’s house for a “meet and greet” with some of my brother’s associates and Congressman Davis. Unsure what to expect of him, I have to admit that the Congressman wasn’t at all like I thought he’d be. He was very down-to-earth and personable, I liked him from the start. I also got to meet a young lady Jeremy’s now dating, but will reserve comment and judgement until I get to know her better.

It wasn’t a bad day, but I’m worn out. I’ve spent the last hour reconfiguring CGI scripts for one of my sites, and am thoroughly POOPED. I’m thinking of climbing back into bed for a bit, as I’m still a bit weak from being sick.

Family-wise, things are finally looking up. My brother bought Jessie a Winnie-the-Pooh book, Mom bought her a purse and all kinds of plastic/play jewelry. My brother and Jim get along famously … in fact, the whole family loves him.

Maybe for ONCE, everything is starting to work out right. I can only smile to myself and hope …

I still think Spock is sexy

April 6, 2004 by Nicki

Someone once asked me who my favorite “sexy” scifi character was, I answered simply “Spock.”

“Spock? Spock from Star Trek? Pointy eared dude?”

lol … I got a few weird looks from my circle of friends at the time, and it earned several inside jokes about a pointy-ear fetish and alien fetish, but I stand by my choice.

To this day, Leonard Nimoy is still a very striking, decisively winning, and just handsome man to me. If you’ll excuse the obvious pun, he’s the most logical choice. He’s extremely intelligent and well-spoken. He has an incredibly sharp wit and sense of humor. He has really intense eyes, and a bright smile (when he DOES smile).

True, the ears made him intriguing to me at first … but his character won me over, both on and off screen.
