There’s something burning me right now and I feel the need to rant…

There is a wrong-doing going on right now … the persecution of Lt. Col. Allen West by the Army for his actions in the war in Iraq. You see, Lt. Col. West was charged with “aggravated assault and communicating a threat” to an Iraqi officer detained. In fact, this was an Iraqi officer that we trained, who then turned on us! In order to force him to provide information about a planned attack on American troops, Lt. Col. West did what he felt was necessary.

What really surprised me was that he turned himself in! He told his superiors what he had done, knowing full well that he’d get in trouble for it — knowing full well that he was just a short time away from his pension eligibility.

Me personally, I think this is a man of integrity and honor. Hell, we should pin a medal on him! The Army owes him an apology. He has saved American lives while doing his duty to the best of his ability.

What burns me is that politicians, desk jockey military higher-ups, and people in Washington are basically sending our men and women over there, but telling them “We want you to win, but don’t kill or hurt anyone” … get real, people! This is not a “Gentleman’s war” … terrorists don’t play nice with other kiddies.

You want our men and women to defend our country and our freedom … ever tried fighting someone with your hands tied behind your back?

Life, or something like it …

I’ve been mega-busy … I’ve actually thought about posting, but something called Life keeps getting in the way … funny how that is!

Quickie update: my boss decided to quit a little over a week ago while I was at lunch (out of the office). I came back to a half-empty empty room … his half being empty. We scrambled to find a replacement, and hired him … my honey. :) I would say it’s been interesting … but “interesting” is not a big enough word. An adventure is more like it.

We actually work pretty well together, but it’s really frustrating right now because there is no one here to train Jim on how to do his job … and I’m buried as it is under a huge pile. I’m trying to help him as much as I can as we go … but at least now I don’t have to feel bad about going over my boss’s head to talk to the owner about my security concerns.

It’s stormed today … the power went off several times at work, and revealed something I had hoped wouldn’t happen — the UPS for the network server is fubar’d, and the UPS for the T1 line is insufficient. I’m not surprised by these, but am disappointed nonetheless.

Just a quick couple of notes …

Halloween was fun. I spent a couple of hours with Jessie on her makeup, and she turned out absolutely adorable! (pics to come)

Work is keeping me really busy, along with a couple of freelance side jobs that I’ve picked up over the past few days. (just in time to pay property taxes, yay *sic*)

On a slightly humorous note, I took one of those “silly online tests”, this one being an 80’s lyrics quiz. I felt I did horribly, as I missed some songs that should have been SO blatantly obvious to me (IMO), but I guess I did pretty well overall:
